Mean Time to Acknowledge (MTTA)
How is incident acknowledgment time trending in the Reliability tab, and how does MTTA relate to on-call burden?
What it shows
Mean Time to Acknowledge (MTTA) measures the average time between when an incident is triggered and when an engineer acknowledges it, the first response metric in the incident lifecycle. The trend shows whether this response window is shortening or lengthening over the selected period. In AI-assisted engineering environments, MTTA is influenced both by how many incidents are being generated and by how much on-call bandwidth engineers have available when incidents fire.
Why it matters
MTTA is the human availability signal in reliability. If engineers are spending more time in AI coding sessions, generating higher output but also spending longer in agentic loops, they may be slower to notice and acknowledge pages, particularly during deep-work periods. A rising MTTA alongside rising AI adoption is a workload signal, not just a process signal: it suggests engineers are being pulled in competing directions between AI-assisted development and operational response. That tension becomes visible here before it shows up in MTTR or P1 counts.
The Larridin angle
Larridin's Reliability tab cross-references MTTA with On-Call Burden, making it possible to see whether rising MTTA is distributed across the team (a systemic process issue) or concentrated in the engineers already carrying the highest on-call load (a capacity and workload balance issue). Those are different problems requiring different solutions.

Common questions
What does Mean Time to Acknowledge (MTTA) measure?
MTTA measures the average time between when an incident is triggered and when an engineer acknowledges it, serving as the first response metric in the incident lifecycle.
How does AI coding affect MTTA?
AI coding can influence MTTA by increasing the number of incidents and affecting the availability of engineers, who may be engaged in deep work and slower to respond to incidents.
Why is MTTA important to the C-suite?
MTTA signals human availability and workload balance, indicating whether engineers are effectively managing their time between AI-assisted development and operational response.
How does Larridin's Reliability tab help with MTTA?
Larridin's Reliability tab cross-references MTTA with On-Call Burden to identify whether rising MTTA is a systemic issue or a problem concentrated among certain engineers.
