Agent Readiness
Category Grades
How does the Category Grades card show readiness across Code Quality, Build, Testing, Docs, Observability, and Security?
What it shows
Category Grades assign a letter grade (A through F) to six infrastructure dimensions that determine agent readiness: Code Quality, Build, Testing, Docs, Observability, and Security. Each grade reflects the current state of that dimension across the org's repositories, not aspirational targets, but assessed current state. The six categories together form the diagnostic breakdown behind the Org Readiness Level score, showing which specific dimensions are holding the overall readiness level down.
Why it matters
Org Readiness Level tells you where you are; Category Grades tell you what to fix. A codebase with strong Code Quality and Testing grades but a D in Observability is one major instrumentation investment away from supporting autonomous agents reliably, and that investment is far more targeted than "improve the whole codebase." For CTOs building a roadmap toward autonomous agent deployment, Category Grades are the prioritization tool that makes the investment case specific and costed rather than general and aspirational.
The Larridin angle
The six categories are specifically chosen because they represent the infrastructure that AI agents depend on to operate safely: Code Quality determines whether agents have clean patterns to learn from; Testing determines whether agent changes get caught before production; Observability determines whether agent-caused issues surface quickly; Security determines whether agents can be granted appropriate permissions without creating attack surface. A gap in any one of these translates directly to a reliability or security risk when agents operate autonomously.

Common questions
What are the six dimensions assessed by the Category Grades?
The six dimensions assessed are Code Quality, Build, Testing, Docs, Observability, and Security.
How do Category Grades impact the Org Readiness Level score?
Category Grades provide a diagnostic breakdown that identifies which specific dimensions are affecting the overall Org Readiness Level score.
Why are Category Grades important for CTOs planning AI agent deployment?
Category Grades help CTOs prioritize investments by showing specific areas that need improvement, making the roadmap for AI agent deployment more targeted and cost-effective.
What risks are associated with gaps in the Category Grades dimensions?
Gaps in any of the six dimensions can lead to reliability or security risks when AI agents operate autonomously.
