Larridin / Research announcement
Larridin introduces the AI Impact in Engineering Report, Q3 2026.
New research from Larridin examines how engineering work changed across Q2 and Q3 2026—from the growing share of AI-assisted pull requests to the cost of shipped work and the way leaders organize their teams.
The report combines production telemetry from companies using Larridin Engineering Intelligence with a live poll of engineering leaders at LDX3 New York in September 2026.
How AI is changing engineering work, costs and teams
- AI-assisted work became the majority of merged pull requests. The share rose from 35% in April to 62% in September, averaged across measured companies.
- AI coding-spend growth slowed sharply. Monthly growth in billed AI coding spend fell from 65% in July to 13% in August and 11% in September, averaged across companies with billed spend in every month from May to September. Spend continued to rise, but at a slower pace.
- Engineering leaders are reorganizing around outcomes. In the LDX3 live poll, 40.8% of approximately 98 respondents said they reorganized around products or outcomes in the past year. The poll allowed multiple selections.
The full report examines adoption, output, cost, review, quality, coding tools and team organization, with metrics to guide 2027 planning.
Findings describe observed relationships and do not establish causation. The telemetry and poll cover different populations; the report explains the measurement periods and limitations.
