Larridin Study Helps Show How to Optimize AI

Written by Floyd Smith | Jul 5, 2026

A long and fascinating Medium article, The Design Teams Winning With AI Are Not Doing What You Think by jass ksiksi, cites a Larridin study to make a fascinating point: Use AI carefully, or it can hurt quality and productivity.

Here’s the finding, from Larridin’s State of Enterprise AI 2026 report: 58% of organizations cite unclear AI ownership as their primary barrier to getting value from it, while only 25% have fully implemented AI governance programs.

This article drills down on the finding to describe what governance should do: create a structure for using AI. Letting junior people use AI, unsupervised, lets hallucinations and errors go by unchallenged. Worse, it can let work that looks OK, but doesn’t really do the job, get out to customers. The result can be a steady decline in quality, at best, and well-publicized failures that do long-term damage to a company, at worse.

The article goes on to show how junior employees, senior employees, and AI can all work together to create outstanding work, efficiently, while cultivating the skills needed for all employees to use AI effectively. Recommended.
